Artificial intelligence, short AI, is a computer program that is trained to do tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as understanding and translating language, having dialogues or recognizing things in pictures, like the facial recognition in our smartphones does.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How Does Artificial Intelligence Work?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

AI works by identifying returning patterns. It learns through repetition and feedback, in other words through experience, just like we humans do. We call this machine learning.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Example:<\/strong> An AI is presented with many pictures of cats and dogs. The characteristics that cats and dogs have are tagged in the images. With each image the AI is given, the probability that it can decide whether the next image is of a cat or a dog increases.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Another example:<\/strong> An AI is supposed to learn the game of chess. To do this, the rules and moves of all the chess figures are first explained to it. In the next step, the AI is \u201ctrained\u201d by analyzing videos of many different chess games. It learns to distinguish between good and bad moves. Finally, the AI \u201cmakes its own experiences\u201d when playing chess. It learns from every game and improves its strategy over time.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
